TAX CODE ALIGNMENT & REFUND DELAYS
Idaho Governor Brad Little has signed House Bill 559, aligning Idaho’s tax code with the federal One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The change is expected to reduce state revenue by about $155 million this fiscal year. The Idaho State Tax Commission warns budget cuts and new tax changes could delay refunds by up to 18 weeks and cost the state millions in interest.
NEW EVENT CENTER FOR TWIN FALLS
The City of Twin Falls is moving forward with plans for a new multi-use event center. A recent feasibility study shows strong demand for a modern venue to host conventions, concerts, and community events. The report will be presented to City Council on March 16th, with location and funding options now under review.
RANGELAND FIRE PROTECTION
As wildfire season approaches, southern Idaho ranchers are stepping up through the Rangeland Fire Protection Association. Formed in 2012, the group now has 10 districts and more than 400 trained volunteers who often arrive before BLM crews.
EDUCATION & IMMIGRATION BILLS
Idaho lawmakers are advancing new education bills, including one from Representative Steve Tanner requiring aggregated data on students’ immigration status to estimate costs. Supporters say it’s about funding transparency, while critics call it unnecessary. Meanwhile, a public buildings bathroom bill has cleared committee and now heads to the full House.
DRUG PRICE-FIXING SETTLEMENT
Raúl Labrador announced nearly $18 million in settlements over alleged generic drug price-fixing. Idaho consumers who purchased certain medications between 2009 and 2019 may be eligible for compensation.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT SENTENCING
36-year-old Sterling McDaniel will spend 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to aggravated assault for firing a gun toward neighbors last June. His prison sentence was suspended, and he’ll serve the time on a holiday schedule while on three years’ probation.
HIGHWAY 24 CLOSURE
State Highway 24 will be closed under I-84 at Exit 211 from Friday night through Monday morning as crews remove the old westbound bridge. Westbound traffic will detour through Burley, eastbound through Declo.
POLITICAL VISITS TO BOISE
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Donald Trump Jr. are both heading to Boise. Walz speaks March 7th at a Democratic fundraiser, while Trump Jr. appears February 23rd at the Idaho Majority Club’s America 250 event at the Boise Centre.

DISTRICT GIRLS BASKETBALL
Big night in district girls basketball—Burley knocks out Twin Falls 54 to 39. Jocelyn Lloyd led the Bobcats with 21 points. Twin Falls is done, and Burley now faces top-seed Mountain Home Thursday in a loser-out game.
The Carey Panthers are headed back to the 1A State Tournament after a thrilling 40-38 win over Dietrich in the district championship. Andie Simpson banked in the game-winner with under five seconds left. Carey returns to state looking to improve on last year’s third-place finish. Dietrich gets one more shot at state Saturday against Hansen at Canyon Ridge in a win-and-in game. Hansen advanced after beating Richfield 36-30 in an elimination game.
More girls scores—Jerome wins the 5A District IV title over Mountain Home 58-54 and heads to state at Mountain View. Filer punches its ticket to 4A state with a 68-59 win over Gooding and joins Kimberly next week at Skyview.

On the boys side—Murtaugh rolls past Glenns Ferry 65-35. Raft River tops Oakley 73-45. And Valley gets by Shoshone 49-37.
TONIGHT’S MATCHUPS
It’s a busy night of high school basketball coming up tonight. In boys action, Kimberly is on the road at Gooding for a conference matchup, tip-off at 7:30. The Bulldogs come in at 6 and 14, taking on a strong Gooding squad sitting at 11 and 6. Also at 7:30, Declo heads to Wendell in another conference showdown. Declo is 10 and 9 on the season, while Wendell is rolling at 18 and 1.
On the girls side, it’s district tournament time in Jerome. Valley faces Raft River at 7 o’clock. Valley comes in at 15 and 9, and Raft River at 16 and 7, with a trip forward in the tournament on the line.
BOISE STATE FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
Boise State Broncos football have officially released their 2026 schedule. The Broncos open September 5th on the road at Oregon Ducks football, then host Memphis and South Dakota at Albertsons Stadium. Pac-12 play begins October 3rd at home against Utah State. Other key matchups include trips to Fresno State, Washington State, and Colorado State, with Oregon State and San Diego State coming to Boise. The regular season wraps with a flex Pac-12 opponent before the conference championship December 4th.
BRONCOS WOMEN FALL TO FRESNO STATE
Boise State Broncos women’s basketball saw its nine-game win streak snapped last night, falling to Fresno State Bulldogs women’s basketball 75-69. The Broncos drop to 19-and-6 overall, 10-and-4 in Mountain West play. Natalie Pasco led Boise State with 19 points and four threes, Tatum Thompson added 16 points and nine rebounds, and Dani Bayes chipped in 15. Twelve first-half turnovers proved costly as Fresno State built a halftime lead the Broncos couldn’t overcome. Boise State now heads to Laramie to face Wyoming Saturday at 2 p.m.
