🚨 ACCIDENTS & CRIME

  • A Rupert man (74) died Saturday after failing to yield at a stop sign near Minidoka and colliding with another vehicle. The other driver survived.
  • Idaho State Police chased a suspect in Idaho Falls Friday night; a trooper and a civilian were injured with minor injuries. The suspect remains at large.
  • Idaho Falls Police arrested 40-year-old Lucas James on Saturday after he fled a prior ISP pursuit. He was taken into custody by SWAT and faces multiple felony charges.
  • A Mountain Home power outage Friday was caused by someone shooting a power line. It lasted 24 hours and caused thousands in damages. No suspect has been identified.
  • Twin Falls County man Samson Snedden (42) is facing three felony counts of lewd conduct with a child. His trial is set for July 8.

🔥 FIRES

  • A two-alarm fire at Prospector Condos in Ketchum was sparked by smoldering pine needles from nighttime grilling. Two units were destroyed; no injuries were reported.

🏫 EDUCATION & GOVERNMENT

  • Idaho lawmakers boasted about a $400 million school funding boost and 5% teacher raises, but State CFO Gideon Tolman told Magic Valley officials that much of it is recycled or restricted.
  • The Caldwell School District is considering creating its own police force after a year without school resource officers. With new funding, two SROs will return this fall.

  • Six Magic Valley softball teams head to Boise for the state tournament:
    • 4A: Kimberly (24-2) vs. Marsh Valley; Gooding vs. Teton.
    • 5A: Jerome vs. Pocatello; Burley vs. Blackfoot.
    • 3A: Declo vs. Nampa Christian.
    • 2A: Glenns Ferry vs. Notus.
  • Twin Falls Bruins baseball advances to the 5A State Championship after a dramatic 4-3 walk-off win over Skyline. They face Vallivue Thursday at 4 p.m.
  • Idaho State Bengals softball defeated Northern Colorado 10-3 to advance to the Big Sky Softball Championship. Ava Brown hit her record 25th home run of the season. They now face Weber State.
