🔥 Fatal Crash Near Mountain Home

Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal crash near Mountain Home on I-84 Saturday. A pickup crossed into oncoming traffic and hit another truck head-on. Both vehicles became fully engulfed in fire. The 29-year-old Garden City driver died at the scene, and the other driver was airlifted. The interstate was blocked for about three hours.

✈ Two Small Plane Crashes Reported

Two small plane crashes were reported in Idaho this weekend. In Bingham County, a pilot survived after crashing into the Snake River near the Porterville Bridge. And in Boise, two people had non-life-threatening injuries when a Kitfox aircraft went down near the airport. No fatalities were reported in either crash.

⚖ Custer County Murder Plea

A Custer County man has entered an Alford plea after deputies say he shot and killed another man, then attempted to destroy evidence. Seventy-year-old Alan Bruce pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and destruction of evidence in the death of 47-year-old Patrick Shelton. Both sides are recommending a 20-year sentence, with 10 years fixed.

📞 Sheriff’s Office Scam Warning

The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office is warning about a phone scam. Callers are posing as deputies, including Lt. Daron Brown, claiming you have a warrant and must pay to clear it. Deputies say they will never call to ask for money. Brown said he would tell the caller, “Come get me.”

⚖ AG Declines to Charge Kootenai Sheriff

Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador’s office will not file charges against Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris after Teresa Borrenpohl was removed from a Republican town hall. Officials say she repeatedly disrupted the event and was told to leave. Borrenpohl has filed a tort claim, and civil liability is still possible.

Veterans Day Observances

A Veterans Day service will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Twin Falls City Park bandshell, featuring music from St. Edwards students, guest speaker Calvin Armstead from CSI, and Spirit of Freedom awards. A chili feed and Veterans Day concert at Roper Auditorium follow. Many restaurants and salons are also offering free meals and haircuts for veterans.

🌾 CSI Harvest Festival Draws Thousands

CSI’s 47th annual Harvest Festival wrapped up over the weekend with more than 10,000 visitors at the CSI Expo Center. Vendors from across the Magic Valley sold handmade goods, and raffle proceeds will support CSI student programs. Organizers thanked the community for helping make the event a success.

🏆 Idaho High School Football Quarterfinals

Idaho high school football quarterfinals are underway.

  • 5A: Twin Falls beat Century 22–7.
  • 4A: Fruitland topped Buhl 41–27, while Kimberly shut out American Falls 42–0.
  • 2A: Logos rolled past Hagerman 66–14, and Kamiah defeated Raft River 44–16.
  • 1A: Carey edged Coeur du Christ 40–34.
    The playoffs continue this week.

🏀 CSI Basketball Dominates “Battle for the Boot”

The 17th-ranked CSI Men won the Battle for the Boot, beating North Idaho 79-70. Ace Reiser led with 23 points and was named tournament MVP, with Nathan Ahner also earning all-tournament honors. The Golden Eagles are now 5-0 and host Umpqua Thursday.

The CSI Women stayed perfect too, topping Cochise 67-54. Savannah Stoker scored 15, and Ashley Garner posted a double-double. They’re also 5-0 and host the Battle for the Boot Nov. 20–22.

🏃‍♀️ CSI Cross Country at Nationals

The CSI Women’s Cross Country team placed fifth at the NJCAA National Championships, led by Sage Lyon in 25th with a tight 39-second scoring spread. The CSI Men finished eighth in snowy conditions, highlighted by Raivio Manzer earning All-American honors with a ninth-place finish. Both teams now shift training to the indoor track season.

💙 Dietrich Volleyball Fundraiser for Bryce Hanson

The Dietrich community held a volleyball fundraiser Saturday for Bryce Hanson, the high school football player recovering from a spinal cord injury. Teams, coaches, and neighboring schools showed up in support, helping raise funds for his ongoing medical treatment.

🏀 Boise State Basketball

Boise State men’s basketball rolled past Utah Valley 101–77 at ExtraMile Arena. Drew Fielder led the Broncos with 20 points, while Spencer Ahrens added 19 and Andrew Meadow scored 18. Boise State never trailed and hit the century mark for the 34th time in program history. The Broncos host UTRGV tomorrow night.

Boise State volleyball topped Colorado State in four sets at Bronco Gym. The Broncos racked up 14 team blocks, with Layla Smith and Eliza Sharp each finishing with 12 kills. Bre Mitchell led the defense with 18 digs. Boise State improves to 16-9 and now heads to San Jose State on Wednesday.

🐅 Idaho State & Idaho Athletics

Idaho State men’s basketball fell to San Diego State 73–57 on the road. The Bengals shot over 57 percent in the second half, with Connor Hollenbeck leading the way with 17 points. Caleb Van De Griend added eight off the bench. Idaho State visits Seattle U next Saturday.

Idaho State football made it two straight wins, beating Cal Poly 27–17 inside the Mini Dome. The Bengals carried momentum from last week’s upset of a ranked opponent, improving their late-season push.

Idaho women’s basketball rolled past Walla Walla 94–39 in their home opener. Freshman Sofia Ekh led with 16 points, hitting four threes in her debut. Five Vandals scored in double figures, and the 55-point win is the largest of the Arthur Moreira era. Idaho hosts Southern Utah on Saturday.

Idaho football fell to 11th-ranked UC Davis 28–14 in Moscow. Quarterback Joshua Wood threw for a career-high 297 yards, including two touchdown passes to Michael Graves, who finished with 112 yards. The Vandals now head to Sacramento State next week.
