Shoshone Falls Grade Closure
The City of Twin Falls has closed the lower section of Shoshone Falls Grade after unusually high water overflowed the roadway, damaging shoulders and guardrails. Dierkes Lake Park remains open.
State Budget Transparency Tool
Idaho lawmakers are testing a new online “Base Builder” budget tool designed to increase transparency in state spending. The Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee says it allows both legislators and the public to dig deeper into ongoing agency budgets, not just new funding requests. The tool is live now under “Base Budget Dashboards” on the Idaho Legislature’s website.
New Signal for Dangerous Intersection
A new traffic signal is being installed at the intersection of Highways 93 and 25 in Jerome County — where 46 crashes and six deaths have occurred in the past decade. ITD says the work should be finished by December.
Conserving Idaho’s Wild Heart
The Nature Conservancy has now protected over 100,000 acres of wildlife habitat in central Idaho after securing a conservation easement on a 5,300-acre ranch near the Pioneer Mountains owned by Glenn Schumacher. The land remains open for ranching while safeguarding key migration routes for wildlife.

Shooting at Provo Training Center
A Boise man, 27-year-old Dallin William Litster, has been sentenced to up to 40 years in prison after firing nine shots into a security guard booth at the Missionary Training Center in Provo. Litster, already serving time in Idaho for stalking, will begin his Utah sentence after completing those terms.
Psychiatrist’s License Suspended
The Idaho State Board of Medicine has suspended the license of Boise psychiatrist Dr. Alexander Wills, who faces a felony sexual assault charge. Officials say he poses an “immediate danger” to public safety.

Free Legal Clinics — Pro Bono Week
The Idaho Volunteer Lawyers Program will host free legal clinics Oct. 19–25 in honor of Pro Bono Week. Topics include family law, employment issues, estate planning, and end-of-life planning for veterans. Clinics are open to Idahoans with low incomes or those at risk.
Rupert’s Pool Gets a Makeover
Big changes are making waves in Rupert! The city’s Neptune Park Pool is getting a $3 million renovation — including a retractable dome that will make it a year-round facility by 2025. The project, funded largely by community donations, will also add new locker rooms and bleachers.

District Soccer Tournaments Begin
The 5A boys’ district tournament kicked off Thursday with Burley and Jerome both advancing.
- Burley crushed Mountain Home 5–0, avenging a loss from 10 days earlier.
- Jerome exploded 11–0 over Minico, with goals from Edgar Andrade, Rodolfo Vera, Jhovany Quinones, and Cheke Ortiz.
Next up: Burley faces top-seeded Wood River Tuesday at 4 in Hailey; Jerome meets #2 Twin Falls Tuesday at 4 at Sunway.
Girls’ Soccer Highlights:
- Mountain Home edged Burley 2–1.
- Jerome blanked Minico 2–0.

Banana Ball Hits Boise!
Get ready for Banana Ball — the high-energy baseball sensation — coming to Albertsons Stadium July 31–Aug. 1! The Texas Tailgaters will face the Party Animals in a fast-paced, two-hour game featuring dance breaks, fan interaction, and even 10-foot-tall players. Ticket lottery closes October 31. The Banana Ball Championship League debuts in 2026.
College & University Soccer
- Boise State Women’s Soccer beat San Jose State 3–0 Thursday, with goals from Asia Lawyer, Sophie Schmautz, and Madie Donovan. The Broncos remain unbeaten in Mountain West play and host Fresno State Sunday at noon.
- CSI Soccer dominated Pacific Northwest Christian: the men won 3–0, the women 7–0. Both teams travel to North Idaho Saturday.
- Idaho State Soccer blanked Sacramento State 3–0 in their Pink Out Match. Goals came from Samantha Fenske, Stephanie Roper, and freshman Lacie Paul. Keeper Hannah Wieler tallied seven saves for her fifth shutout. Next: Montana on Sunday.
