MEDICAL MARIJUANA BALLOT
Idaho voters could soon learn whether medical marijuana will appear on the November ballot. Supporters say they turned in about 150,000 signatures, but a dispute over late petitions in Minidoka County and signature verification is still being resolved. Counties finish checking signatures today, with a final statewide count to follow.

An Idaho advisory council is recommending opioid settlement money be focused on rural communities. Top priorities include prevention programs for high-risk groups, behavioral health support for first responders, and growing the state’s behavioral health workforce.

SUPREME COURT SPORTS CASE
A major sports ruling could come today from the U.S. Supreme Court in a case that started right here in Idaho. The court is expected to decide whether states can ban transgender girls and women from competing on female school sports teams. The case centers on Idaho’s 2020 Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, challenged by Boise State student Lindsay Hecox. The decision could impact similar laws in at least 27 states.

Boise State men’s basketball has added a big name to its coaching staff. Former BYU associate head coach Will Voigt is joining the Broncos after helping coach top NBA Draft pick AJ Dybantsa and leading the Cougars to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Burley Green Sox are Western Invitational champions after a dominant Saturday in Logan, Utah. Jake Redder threw a four-inning no-hitter in the semifinals, and cousin Ike Redder followed with a one-hit shutout in a 7-0 win over Coeur d’Alene in the championship.
TWIN FALLS AA COWBOYS
The Twin Falls AA Cowboys finished runner-up at a 16-team wood-bat tournament in Bend, Oregon. The Cowboys fell to Owyhee 13-12 in the championship after leading by five runs. Treyson Walker drove in five runs in the title game as Twin Falls prepares to host the Cowboy Classic this holiday weekend.
CSI WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The College of Southern Idaho women’s basketball program is sending four more players to the next level. Naomi Senato signed with the University of Indianapolis, Chloe Jensen is headed to East Central University, Calyn Wood will join former teammates at Utah Tech, and Lea Nadolny signed with Louisiana Monroe. All four helped the Golden Eagles win the Scenic West title, capture the Region 18 championship, and reach the NJCAA Elite Eight last season.
FISH STOCKING
If you’re planning to wet a line this July, Idaho Fish and Game has good news. More than 110,000 catchable rainbow trout will be stocked across the state. Here in the Magic Valley, anglers can expect fresh fish at Lake Cleveland, Big Trinity Lake, Gavers Lagoon, Freedom Park Pond, and several stretches of the South Fork Boise River.
