Details are emerging about an early Sunday morning incident where Twin Falls police discovered a suspicious device in a car. Just before 2 a.m., a state trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding near Heyburn and Blue Lakes. Court documents report that the driver, 23-year-old Nicholas Honhorst, displayed bloodshot and glassy eyes. The officer observed a pistol inside the car, driven by Honhorst, who is currently on probation. A suspicious black tube containing buckshot and explosive powder was found, prompting the Twin Falls bomb squad to respond.

Avalanche Fatality Near Lookout Peak
A motorized snow biker died after being fully buried in an avalanche near Lookout Peak, northwest of Cascade, on Sunday. Two bikers triggered a small slide around noon. 41-year-old Jason Haines of Kuna was pushed into a terrain trap and buried under snow and debris. Other snowmobilers located Haines using an avalanche beacon, but life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.
