⚖ IDAHO ABORTION BAN TRIAL

A federal trial over Idaho’s abortion ban continued yesterday, with state witnesses arguing that current law already allows doctors to treat life-threatening pregnancy complications.

Attorneys challenging the law say physicians still face uncertainty and legal risk.

The judge is expected to hear more testimony today before the trial wraps up Monday.

💧 SOUTHERN IDAHO WATER CUTS

Southern Idaho farmers are facing one of the toughest water years in decades.

The Surface Water Coalition says low snowpack, drought conditions, and reduced river flows have forced major irrigation cuts.

The Twin Falls Canal Company is already operating with about one-third less water, leaving some farmers to abandon crops and conserve supplies.

🚜 FARM BILL PRESSURE

Idaho farmers are urging Congress to pass an updated Farm Bill as rising fuel, fertilizer, and equipment costs squeeze producers.

Supporters say the bill would strengthen crop insurance, expand loan programs, and provide more certainty for Idaho’s agriculture industry.

The measure has passed the House and now awaits action in the Senate.

🐄 ANIMAL ENTRY RULES TIGHTENED

The Idaho Department of Agriculture has tightened animal entry requirements after New World screwworm was detected in Texas and New Mexico.

The pests can seriously harm livestock, pets, and wildlife.

Idaho now requires health certificates for animals entering from affected states and is urging pet owners to use caution when traveling.

✈ HIGHWAY 167 REOPENS AFTER NAVY JET CRASH

State Highway 167 is back open after nearly a month of repairs following the Navy jet crash near Mountain Home Air Force Base.

Crews cleared wreckage and rebuilt damaged sections of roadway before reopening the highway yesterday.

👶 BABY DELIVERED ON I-84 ON RAMP

A flat tire on an Interstate 84 on ramp turned into a baby delivery Wednesday morning.

Idaho State Police say emergency crews arrived to find a Nampa woman had already given birth before they reached the scene.

🐴 HORSE RESCUED IN BLAINE COUNTY

A happy ending in Blaine County after a horse named Auggie ran off when its 71-year-old rider was thrown and seriously injured.

Search and Rescue volunteers used a helicopter to locate the horse three miles away.

Auggie was safely rescued and appeared uninjured.

🤠 HAILEY RODEO HONORS TED UHRIG

The Hailey Rodeo is honoring one of its founding figures.

Ted Uhrig helped create the rodeo back in 1948 and spent decades serving the Sawtooth Rangers Riding Club in nearly every role imaginable.

After a petition gathered more than 800 signatures, the city approved renaming the arena in his honor.

Beginning July 4th, it will officially be known as the Ted Uhrig Rodeo Arena.

⚾ ALL-IDAHO BASEBALL TEAM

The 2026 All-Idaho Baseball Team has been announced, and several Magic Valley athletes earned statewide recognition.

Canyon Ridge senior Christian Waitley was honored after leading 6A in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging.

Twin Falls stars Maddox Stadelmeir and Hoyt Murray made the 5A team, while Burley’s Jake Redder earned all-state honors for the second straight year.

In 4A, Buhl’s Porter Higley and Filer’s Brett Paxton were recognized, with additional second-team selections from Twin Falls, Burley, Kimberly, Wendell and Declo.

🏃 BOISE STATE TRACK AND FIELD

Boise State wrapped up the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with four Honorable-Mention All-America selections.

Kaiya Robertson finished 17th in the 1500 meters and also earned the NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete Award.

Raekwon Weatherspoon placed 17th in the long jump, while Abby Kendrick and Emily Jobes earned honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the Broncos posted their most honorable mentions since 2019.

🏈 BOISE STATE PRESEASON ALL-PAC-12 SELECTIONS

Boise State led the Pac-12 with 18 selections on the Phil Steele Preseason All-Pac-12 teams.

The Broncos also tied for the conference lead with five first-team picks, including running back Dylan Riley, offensive linemen Roger Carreon and Daylon Metoyer, EDGE Jayden Virgin-Morgan, and defensive back Jaden Mickey.

Fresno State followed with 17 selections, while Texas State also landed 17 players on the preseason squads.

🏃 IDAHO’S CONSTANZE PAOLI REACHES NCAA FINAL

Idaho’s Constanze Paoli is headed to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships final in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

The junior shattered her own school record with a time of 9 minutes, 44.85 seconds, finishing fourth in Thursday’s semifinal to earn one of 12 spots in Saturday’s national final.

Paoli will race for All-America honors Saturday on ESPN2.
