DROWNING AT DIERKES LAKE
Twin Falls Police say a 12-year-old boy died after drowning at Dierkes Lake Saturday evening. Search and Rescue divers recovered the child from the water before he was taken to St. Lukeโs Magic Valley, where he later passed away.
BOATING SAFETY FOCUS
Memorial Day weekend brought heavy crowds to Twin Falls County waterways, and the Sheriffโs Office says boating safety remains a major focus following Saturdayโs drowning at Dierkes Lake. Marine patrol deputies contacted more than 200 boaters over the weekend and issued around 20 citations for life jacket violations. Deputies remind everyone that kids under 15 must wear a life jacket while on the water.
SUMMIT CREEK FIRE
A wildfire sparked yesterday afternoon near Cache Peak in Cassia County. The Summit Creek Fire has burned more than 500 acres southeast of Oakley, with helicopters, air tankers, and ground crews working to protect nearby structures.
MINIDOKA COUNTY CRASH
Idaho State Police are investigating a serious two-vehicle crash at 400 South and 600 West in Minidoka County after a driver reportedly ran a stop sign yesterday afternoon. Five people were injured when the vehicles collided and caught fire, including several juveniles who were flown to area hospitals.
OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING
Idaho State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Idaho County after deputies responded to a report of a man threatening to shoot a woman Friday night. Officials say the male suspect was shot and killed during the encounter. No officers were injured.
MOTORCYCLE CRASH AFTER PURSUIT
A 34-year-old man was injured after crashing a motorcycle near Glanbia Friday night following a failed police pursuit in Twin Falls. Police say the rider fled at high speeds before crashing along railroad tracks.
HEYBURN SHOP FIRE
Fire crews responded to a structure fire near Heyburn yesterday afternoon after a vehicle caught fire inside a large shop. Officials say a battery charger caused the blaze. No injuries were reported, but the shop and several vehicles suffered smoke damage.
FILER HOUSE FIRE
Fire crews responded to a house fire in Filer yesterday afternoon after a family returned home from dinner and found smoke coming from the house. Idaho Power and Magic Valley Paramedics also responded to the scene.
FRIEDMAN MEMORIAL AIRPORT CLOSURE
Friedman Memorial Airport will be closed through Thursday for runway maintenance and repairs. Officials say commercial flights will be canceled during the three-day closure, with reopening expected Thursday night.
IDAHO LABOR FORCE
Idahoโs labor force shrank in April while the stateโs unemployment rate held steady at 3-point-6 percent. State officials say fewer Idahoans were working or looking for work last month, even as overall job numbers remained relatively stable statewide.
STATE LAND AUCTION
Idaho officials sold 160 acres of state-owned land near Driggs for five million dollars at auction Friday. The property was purchased by a company tied to billionaire Thomas Tull, who says the land will remain undeveloped.
JEROME COUNTY TIE VOTE
A Republican precinct race in Jerome County ended in an exact tie after the May primary election. Jesse Human and Brian Smith each received 75 votes in the Northwest Precinct, so county officials will decide the winner with a coin toss this morning at the Jerome County Commissioners room.

SOUTHERN IDAHO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS
In Idaho high school sports, Southern Idaho is showing up big! A new Niche ranking of the stateโs top athletic programs puts Bishop Kelly at number one, but several southern Idaho schools made the list โ including Sugar-Salem at number two, Kimberly at six, Twin Falls at ten, Gooding at eleven, and Minico at eighteen. Other schools recognized include Rigby, Rocky Mountain, Middleton, and Skyline, with rankings based on championships, participation, and sports offered.
WILLS TOYOTA GOLF TOURNAMENT
The fourth annual Wills Toyota Golf Tournament wrapped up with a pair of ties in the championship flight, as Jordan and Brian Atkinson matched Wyatt Nielson and Gage Huft with winning scores of 186. In the first flight, Chase Schaniel and Hank Wills took the title at 194, saying the tournament keeps getting bigger every year. Tanner Jensen and Ruth Hanchey captured their third straight ladies flight championship with a 210, while Ryan West and Brayden Dennis won the second flight, and Nick Mink with Charles Harding claimed the third flight title.
CSI SOFTBALL WORLD SERIES
The College of Southern Idaho softball team opened the NJCAA Division One World Series with a thrilling 4-3 walk-off win over Dodge City yesterday. The Golden Eagles tied it in the sixth before Ava Howell scored the game-winner in the seventh. Anslie Yazzie drove in two runs, while Ella Farrell picked up the win in relief with four strikeouts. CSI now takes on fourth-seeded Temple College today at 11 a.m. Central Time.
IDAHO VANDALS FOOTBALL
The Idaho Vandals are adding more speed to the offense, as head coach Thomas Ford Jr. announced the signing of Oregon State transfer Zack Card. The wide receiver appeared in eleven games for the Beavers last season and brings Division One experience to Moscow. Card was a standout playmaker at Pittsburg High School in California and now joins an Idaho receiving corps loaded with talent, including Ryan Jezioro, Tony Harste, Marquawn McCraney, and Daveon Superales.
