✈ Navy Jets Collide Near Mountain Home

Four crew members safely ejected after two Navy jets collided during the Gunfighters Skies Air Show near Mountain Home yesterday afternoon. Officials say the crew members are in stable condition, and while the crash sparked a brush fire and forced temporary road closures, no life-threatening injuries were reported.

🚨 Fatal I-84 Rollover Near Heyburn

Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal rollover crash on Interstate 84 near Heyburn. Troopers say a 76-year-old Heyburn man lost control of a Land Rover yesterday afternoon, went off the roadway, and rolled the vehicle after striking an embankment. The driver later died at a local hospital.

🏍 Fatal Motorcycle Crash East of Filer

Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash east of Filer Friday evening. Troopers say a 39-year-old Twin Falls man on a Harley-Davidson collided with a pickup crossing Highway 30. The motorcyclist later died at a local hospital, and the pickup driver was taken into custody.

Multiple crews responded to a house fire on Alvarado Street in Twin Falls last night. Firefighters say one person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, and the home suffered extensive damage.

πŸš” Boise Shooting Investigation

Boise Police are investigating a shooting near BSU after a man was found with two gunshot wounds last night. Officers say the victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, and 21-year-old Sophie Rains later turned herself in and is facing a felony aggravated battery charge.

βš– Former Boise County Deputy Charged

Former Boise County Sheriff’s deputy Bryce Cole is behind bars on a half-million-dollar bond after being charged with aggravated assault, stalking, and attempted strangulation. His preliminary hearing is set for May 28.

Hundreds gathered at the Idaho State Capitol Friday to honor former Idaho Governor and U.S. Senator Dirk Kempthorne during a lying in state ceremony in Boise. Dirk Kempthorne was remembered for his decades of public service and dedication to Idaho before his public funeral and burial services this weekend.

πŸ₯Ž State Softball

State softball wrapped up with plenty of Magic Valley storylines over the weekend. Glenns Ferry captured the 2A state title with a 9-to-6 win over Potlatch, bringing home its first championship since 2021. Kimberly made another deep 4A run, beating Preston to reach the title game for the fourth straight season, but fell to Cole Valley Christian 19-to-4 in the championship. Gooding finished fourth at state after battling through the elimination bracket. In 5A, Twin Falls picked up a big 13-to-3 win over Pocatello before being eliminated by Blackfoot, while Burley’s season ended in a tough 8-to-7 loss to Lakeland. Wendell also saw its season end in the 3A tournament after falling to North Fremont.

⚾ State Baseball

State baseball wrapped up over the weekend with several Magic Valley teams making noise around Idaho. Twin Falls saw its season come to an end at the 5A state tournament with an 8-to-nothing loss to Bonneville. The Bruins finished the year 27-and-7 and made their ninth straight trip to state. Senior pitcher Jordan Bingham struck out seven in his final game as a Bruin. At the 3A tournament in Twin Falls, Marsh Valley picked up a thrilling 4-to-3 extra-inning win over Cole Valley Christian before eventually falling to Fruitland. Fruitland went on to win the 3A state championship. Around the state, Sandpoint captured the 5A title, Owyhee won in 4A, Orofino rolled to the 2A championship, and Potlatch claimed the 1A Division One crown. Another exciting weekend of Idaho high school baseball wrapping up the spring season.

Big weekend at the Idaho state track meet for Magic Valley athletes. Kimberly swept the 4A team titles, with Karlie Bair winning gold in both the 100 and 200-meter dash. Twin Falls girls took third in 5A, while Isabelle Pelayo, Eli Thompson, and Henry Patterson all captured individual state titles. Kimberly High School Twin Falls High School.

πŸ… CSI Track and Field

The College of Southern Idaho wrapped up the NJCAA Division One Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a program-record nine medals. Edith Neslen earned All-American honors in the 5,000 meters, helping cap off a strong season for the Golden Eagles distance teams.

πŸ₯Ž CSI Softball Awards

The College of Southern Idaho softball team keeps piling up awards. Adi Hansen was named Region 18 Player of the Year, head coach Nick Baumert earned Coach of the Year honors, and the Golden Eagles are now headed to the NJCAA Division One World Series in Alabama.

🎯 Shooting Range Improvements

Idaho Fish and Game is investing more than 280-thousand dollars into public shooting range improvements across the state. The Jerome Gun Club will receive four new clay throwers, while the Twin Falls Gun Club is rebuilding its skeet range with help from volunteers. Fish and Game say the grants help keep public ranges safe and accessible for shooters statewide.

After a chilly start with a little patchy frost early this morning, we warm up nicely across the Magic Valley. Expect sunshine and highs near 63 today, then we climb into the upper 60s Tuesday, mid-70s by Thursday, and low to mid-80s by the weekend with plenty of sunshine sticking around. Because apparently Idaho decided to start the week as a refrigerator and end it as a patio brochure.

Monday: Patchy frost before 7am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 63. West southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon.
