988 Crisis Line Change: Starting mid-July, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline will remove its LGBTQ+ specialized option. Advocates warn this may heighten suicide risk—especially in Idaho, where 38% of LGBTQ+ youth have contemplated suicide.

Wildfire & Red Flag Alerts

West Clark Fire (Pocatello): Now 100% contained. Burn area revised to 231 acres. No structures were damaged. Evacuation orders lifted.

Red Flag Warning: In effect until 10 p.m. for Blaine, Cassia, Minidoka, and Twin Falls counties due to gusts up to 50 mph and low humidity.

Wind Advisory: Active across the Magic Valley. Residents are urged to secure loose items and drive cautiously.

Crime & Courts

Twin Falls Charges:
21-year-old Robert J. Piñon is charged with rape and lewd conduct involving two underage girls. Alleged abuse occurred between August 2024 and April 2025. He’s being held on a $1 million bond; hearing set for June 27.

Caldwell PD Retaliation Claim:
Former police lieutenant Benjamin Heinrich filed a $500,000 tort claim alleging wrongful termination for exposing corruption. He accuses Chief Rex Ingram of misusing city funds. The city offered no comment.

Kimberly Homicide Update:
Daniel Wise (19) faces unlawful firearm possession charges; Andrew Snyder-Thorstad (19) is charged with concealing evidence. Investigation continues into the fatal shooting of Chris De Quintana Roo.

Traffic & Accidents

Highway 75 Incident (Shoshone):
Two EVs collided near Mammoth Ice Caves after one attempted a pass while the other turned. No injuries or citations. Deputies remind drivers to slow down and pass safely.

American Legion Baseball:

Burley Green Sox A (15–2) won their 7th straight game, beating Post 4 Runnin’ Rebels AA 9–5. Jackson Funk sparked a rally with a two-run single. Burley heads to Filer for a Saturday doubleheader.
Twin Falls Cowboys (15–1) swept the Hawks 9–2 and 8–2. Standouts: Andryk Reynolds (10 Ks), Caleb Fuller (4 RBIs).
Buhl B swept Hub City (now 2–12-1).
Gooding and Filer split: Gooding won 13–9, Filer took Game 2, 9–7.

College Rodeo (Wyoming):

CSI’s Coy Montgomery scored 66.5 in bareback, staying in contention for Saturday’s short go.
Ashton Zabriskie (CSI) failed to qualify in bull riding.
Jett Van Biezen (Idaho State, from Filer) placed 2nd in tie-down and 8th in steer wrestling.
Former CSI cowboy Aaron Champneys finished 7th in tie-down.
No CSI riders will compete today.

Boise State Mourns Coach:
Defensive coach Ron Collins has died. A key figure in Boise State’s early 2000s success, Collins returned in 2022. Survived by his wife and two daughters.
